Matheson has launched the 2023 Matheson Scholarship in Law Plus in association with the University of Limerick (UL).

Launched in 2022 and delivered as part of UL’s 50ForFifty initiative — a celebration of UL’s first 50 years — the annual scholarship is open to first year undergraduate Bachelor of Laws (Law Plus) students in UL.

The recipient of the scholarship will receive a bursary of €5,000 for the academic year and a position on the Matheson Career First Programme, a dedicated programme for undergraduate students.

Commenting, Matheson partner Stuart Kennedy said: “At Matheson, we are committed to helping to build a diverse and innovative workforce, and we recognise the importance of supporting students early in their careers.

“Through this scholarship, we are delighted to continue our relationship with the University of Limerick and further underline our commitment to developing the next generation of talented legal professionals.”

Sarah Hartnett, director of development at the University of Limerick Foundation, said: “The Matheson Scholarship in Law Plus is a fantastic opportunity for a student to receive financial support, as well as mentoring opportunities, at a global leader and one of Ireland’s largest law firms.

“On behalf of the Foundation and UL’s School of Law, we extend our gratitude to Matheson for their support in fostering the future of UL’s legal scholars.”

Applicants should email a copy of their CV and a short summary (maximum 1,000 words) as to why they believe they should be the recipient of the Matheson Scholarship in Law Plus to ul.scholarship@matheson.com by Monday 13 November 2023.
