Matheson advises Scandi Standard on acquisition of Glenhaven Foods
Matheson has advised Scandi Standard on its proposed acquisition of Glenhaven Foods, with completion expected in the third quarter of 2026.
A cross departmental Matheson team, led on the corporate M&A side by partners Rob Barrett, Sandie Lord and Paddy Spicer, senior associates Alan McMullan and Jenny Keenan, associate Jennie Kennedy and trainees Faolán Mac Eoin Quéméner, Ciara Kavanagh and Lauren Moore, is pleased to have advised Scandi Standard AB (publ) (SCST SS), one of Europe’s leading chicken producers, offering chilled, frozen and ready-to-eat chicken products in over 40 countries, on its agreement to acquire Glenhaven Foods.
The transaction is expected to complete in Q3 2026 and is subject to customary regulatory approval.
The acquisition further strengthens Scandi Standard’s portfolio of value-added and ready-to-eat products and adds a clear market-leading position in an attractive category. It also creates a stronger platform for growth in the UK market, one of Europe’s largest markets for value-added poultry products, while building on Manor Farm’s position in Ireland.
A range of lawyers from other Matheson practice areas were also involved in the transaction, including Niall Collins and Andrew Moloney (Competition and Regulatory), Vahan Tchrakian, Chloe Power and Patrick Heron (Tax), Hilda Wrixon, Cillian O’Boyle, Scott Murphy and John Madden (Commercial Real Estate), Alice Duffy, Shane Gallen and Jennifer Bassett (Employment), Lorcan Woods and Trina Dzidonu (Pensions), Marie McGinley, Ruairi O’Connell, Conor Doyle and Bridget Howard (Technology and Innovation Group), Kate McKenna and Harry Healy (Regulatory) and Maeve Delargy, Jill Hurley and Blaithin Sharpley (Environmental).
