Law Society of Ireland updating pre-contract enquiries

The Law Society of Ireland’s conveyancing committee is to publish revised pre-contract enquiries for apartment sales in developments without fire safety concerns or major works likely to increase service charges.

The move follows a review by the committee of pre-contract enquiries for second-hand units, aimed at streamlining conveyancing and reducing vendor costs.

New enquiries for housing-only estates have been available on the Law Society’s website since March 2025.

A forthcoming practice note will offer guidance on multi-unit developments which are affected by fire safety or water ingress issues.

“For developments unaffected by these issues, once again a vendor should be in a position to furnish all replies required pre-contract,” Law Society Council member Sonia McEntee said.

Solicitors can sign up for notifications of new publications from the conveyancing committee by emailing solicitorservices@lawsociety.ie, with over 850 practitioners already registered.
