JMK Solicitors names NI Hospice as 2024 charity partner

Northern Ireland personal injury firm JMK Solicitors has named NI Hospice & Children’s Hospice as its chosen charity partner for 2024.

The firm previously raised over £60,000 for its 2023 charity partner PIPS Suicide Prevention Ireland in conjunction with vehicle accident management company CRASH Services.

Jonathan McKeown, chairman of JMK Solicitors and CEO at CRASH Services, said: “Each year, our staff nominate a charity that is close to their hearts. This year our team felt it was important to concentrate our efforts on raising funds to support the crucial palliative care services of NI Hospice & Children’s Hospice.

“As in previous years, we have a series of events planned throughout the next 12 months such as team members being sponsored to run the Belfast Marathon as well as other internal staff events. Our people also have the option to opt-in to a monthly salary sacrifice scheme where a regular amount is donated each month going directly to the charity.

“We look forward to the year ahead and doing what we can to help NI Hospice provide specialist care to babies, children and adults living with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.”

Lauren Doherty, NI Hospice’s interim director of brand and income, said: “We are so grateful to the staff at JMK Solicitors and CRASH Services for having chosen Hospice as their charity partner for 2024. We look forward to working together on what is sure to be an exciting year of wide-ranging and fun activities.

“This partnership will make a real difference to the lives of local people who depend on our services. Last year, NI Hospice and Children’s Hospice cared for over 4,000 babies, children and adults living with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.

“The majority of our funding comes from the generosity of the local community. Unfortunately, the cost-of-living crisis and high inflation have significantly increased Hospice’s costs and reduced supporters’ capacity to give to charity. So this announcement comes at a key time, to help preserve the role that Hospice has proudly played for the last four decades.

“Without support such as this collaboration, we would not be able to continue to deliver our specialist palliative care to local individuals and their families during their greatest time of need. On behalf of the Hospice families, the babies, infants, children and adults, let me again say a huge and heartfelt thank you to JMK Solicitors and CRASH Services for their kind support.”
