Irish TikToker reaches settlement in Sylvanian Drama case

An Irish TikToker has reportedly reached a settlement in a legal dispute with the manufacturer of the children’s toys she uses to tell soap opera-style stories involving sex and drugs.
More than 2.5 million people follow @sylvaniandrama on TikTok, where Thea Von Engelbrechten posts short stories illustrated with Sylvanian Families felt figurines.
Epoch Company Ltd, the Japanese manufacturer of Sylvanian Families, initiated legal action against Ms Von Engelbrechten for copyright infringement last month.
The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, alleged that the TikTok account has caused “irreparable injury” to its reputation.
According to The Irish Times, the lawsuit was withdrawn on Friday and the parties appear to have reached a settlement.
A post on the @sylvaniandrama Instagram page says the “name and profile picture of this account” will be changed on 19 August 2025.
