Irish Rule of Law International welcomes new deputy country director

Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI) has appointed Dunia Mphande as deputy country director for Malawi.
Ms Mphande is a seasoned development and governance professional with over 15 years’ experience leading programmes in gender equality, social inclusion, climate resilience, health, and economic justice.
In her new role, she will guide IRLI’s strategic programming in Malawi, strengthening the rule of law, advancing access to justice, and championing human rights reforms, especially for vulnerable populations including children and marginalised groups.
Before joining IRLI, Ms Mphande served as head of programmes and policy for Malawi with Christian Aid (UK) and has held senior leadership positions across Africa with international NGOs and donor-funded initiatives.
She brings extensive expertise in policy development, evidence-based advocacy, capacity building, and multi-sectoral partnerships.
Ms Mphande holds a Master of Science from the University of Malawi and is deeply committed to driving inclusive, sustainable change.
Irish Rule of Law International is a project-orientated, non-profit, rule-of-law initiative established by the Law Society of Ireland and the Bar Council of Ireland in 2007.
The Law Society of Northern Ireland and the Bar of Northern Ireland joined as partners in 2015, making IRLI is an all-Ireland body supported by members of both branches of the legal profession throughout the island of Ireland.
