Irish consolidation of language legislation published
The Law Reform Commission has published an Irish language version of the revised Official Languages Act 2003.
A consolidated Revised Act version of the 2003 Act — which has had more than 120 amendments — was published in English in 2022.
Since then, the Commission said it has received a number requests from Irish language organisations for a version in Irish.
Legal researcher Aoife Enright used her language skills to produce the Irish version now available online.
“Great credit goes to the access to legislation team who marshalled legal, technical and linguistic skills to make this happen,” the Commission said.
“It will be interesting to see how this updated version of the Act in Irish is used in the future.”
