#InPictures: Trainee solicitors train for Street Law programme

Another 40 trainee solicitors have undergone training to bring legal education into the classrooms of local DEIS schools through the Law Society Street Law programme.
The latest orientation weekend took place from 3 to 5 October at Blackhall Place, where training was delivered by Law Society staff and guests from Georgetown University, Washington DC.

Since 2013, over 3,000 transition year (TY) students have completed the Law Society Street Law programme, part of the Law Society’s public legal education programme to engage young people with the law and their rights.
In recent years, several students who completed the programme in TY have since started their journey to becoming a solicitor and returned to their former schools to deliver Street Law to the next generation of legal leaders.
Over the three days, trainee solicitors learned how to deliver the programme over six lessons, with topics including the court systems, family law, discrimination law and sexual offences.
