Fears of arson after fire destroys US judge’s home

Footage showing an enormous fire engulfing the home of a senior US judge has gone viral on social media, amid fears the blaze could have been caused by politically-motivated arson attack.
Investigators are still working to establish the cause of the devastating fire at the home of South Carolina Supreme Court judge Diane Goodstein and her husband Arnold Goodstein, a lawyer and former politician.
South Carolina’s chief justice, John Kittredge, told FITSNews it was not yet known “whether the fire was accidental or arson” but had requested “extra patrols and security” from local law enforcement.
Judge Goodstein reportedly received death threats after she was criticised by Trump administration officials for her ruling in a case concerning voter data.
