Belfast-based Elliott Duffy Garrett (EDG) has pledged its support for Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke’s (NICHS) new “Will You?” campaign to raise funds for its ground-breaking long Covid recovery service.

The campaign, which launches this month, will see participating solicitors waive their standard fee for will writing services and instead invite clients to make a donation to NICHS.

The charity believes that around 20,000 people in Northern Ireland could be living with long Covid and launched the first-of-its-kind service to support them.

Neil Mulholland, partner at EDG, said: “We are delighted to be able to use our legal skills to help in some way to address the challenges faced by those suffering from long Covid. By supporting people to make or update a will we can raise vital funds for this NICHS service and play a part in helping someone on their recovery journey.”

Jackie Trainor, director of income generation at NICHS, added: “Our long Covid recovery service receives no funding. Indeed, almost 90 per cent of our care, prevention and research services are funded exclusively by public donations.

“We rely greatly on our supporters, like Elliott Duffy Garrett, to help us keep caring for and supporting our local community. We really appreciate Elliott Duffy Garrett’s commitment to our ‘Will You?’ campaign.

“We are encouraging solicitors to sign up and support the campaign, so we can continue to provide help and support services to the many people living with Long COVID throughout Northern Ireland.”

More information about the campaign is available from Steph Ellis in the charity’s corporate fundraising team, who can be reached at sellis@nichs.org.uk.
