DCU Law Society has held its 10th annual criminal mock trial, with Mairéad Carthy and Bronwyn O’Connell triumphing over runners-up Aoibhínn O’Grady and Andrea Girleanu.

All four contestants in Saturday’s competition were first-year BCL students at Dublin City University.

High Court judge Mr Justice Sean Gillane and DCU professor Dr Lauren O’Connell judged the final round.

Regina Chow, chairperson of the DCU Law Society, told Irish Legal News: “The 2025 DCU Criminal Mock Trial was a special one this year as it marked its 10th anniversary!

“A huge achievement to the entire society, specifically to our moot court convenors, Anstina Anith and Lucia Sweeney, for organising and running the event successfully.”
