NI: Belfast team wins inaugural tripartite golf trophy

Belfast solicitors bested their colleagues from Dublin and Liverpool at the Belfast Solicitors’ Association (BSA) annual golf day yesterday.

The first-ever tripartite tournament between the BSA, Dublin Solicitors Bar Association (DSBA) and Liverpool Lawyers Association (LLA) saw a victory for the home team.

Meanwhile, Jim Sheridan and Seamus Leonard of Belfast firm Sheridan & Leonard Solicitors won the coveted BSA Cup.

More than 70 golfers took part in the successful outing hosted by BSA chair Steven Keown, sponsored by Traction Finance and held in aid of mental health and wellbeing charity, Inspire.

Olivia O’Kane (above), partner at Carson McDowell in Belfast and former chair of the Belfast Solicitors’ Association, had two four-balls and kindly shared her pictures from the day with Irish Legal News.

She was joined at the golf day by guests Mark Mahaffy, managing director of Cool FM and Downtown; James O’Leary, head of legal at MGN Limited, Daily Mirror NI and Belfast Live; and Gavin Wilson, project manager at Belfast Harbour Commissioners.

Her colleague Graeme McKee, senior associate at Carson McDowell, brought along Mark Montogmery of Montgomery Transport and Richard Robinson of Danske Bank.

Michael Quinlan, president of the Law Society of Ireland, attended with Robert Ryan, Shea Cullen, Stephen Fleming, Sean McDonnel, Eamonn Shannon, Ritchie Bennet, Aaron McKenna.

The Liverpool contingent included Jonathan Berkson, captain of Liverpool Golf Society, and Val Duggins, Jim Rymer, Paul Bibby, Gary Hogan, Jon Lear, Phil James and Tony McDonnell.

Paddy Browne won the prize for longest drive, and Gareth Prior won the prize for closest to the pin.
