And finally… wafer thin

A woman is threatening legal action against Nestle after she bought a number of KitKats that contained no wafer – only chocolate.

Law student Saima Ahmad, 20, has demanded the company give her a lifetime supply of the chocolate or face the consequences.

Ms Ahmad, a student at Kings College London, claims “monetary and emotional” loss.

She said: “They go about advertising the unique concept of KitKat, but I’m so disappointed by what I have purchased.”

She had bought an 8-pack of KitKats for £2 from her local supermarket last month but was dismayed to find that where there should have been wafer there was only chocolate.

“Clearly, if I wanted to purchase a confectionery item that is purely chocolate, I would have purchased a bar of Galaxy,” she said.

“I wouldn’t rule out taking this further if Nestle do not apologise or compensate me adequately.”

She added that she is not the only person to have suffered this slight.

“There are quite a few forums online where people complain of having KitKats without wafer,” she said.

In her letter to Nestle she explains the duty owed by the manufacturer to the customer in terms of consistency and that her product was defective.

She states: “The loss I have suffered is of monetary and emotional significance.”
