And finally… the right note
A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian €1 in compensation after she was targeted in an armed jewellery robbery in the French capital in 2016.
The sum was the amount requested by Kardashian, who said the robbery had been “the most terrifying experience of my life”.
Kardashian and her stylist Simone Harouche, who was present during the robbery, said the ruling was about accountability rather than compensation.
“The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition,” they said.
Two men dressed as police officers forced their way into Kardashian’s hotel suite, bound her with zip ties and tape and stole more than $6 million in jewellery.
The court awarded €109,516 to a hotel receptionist who said he had been traumatised by the robbery, while the hotel received €50,000.
Eight people were convicted last year. None returned to prison because they had already served time in pre-trial detention.
