And finally… sobriety on the menu

A province in eastern China has banned civil servants’ boozy working lunches — after several of them DIED from alcohol poisoning.

Following an investigation, The People’s Daily reports workers will now face “the most stringent ever” drinking rules in Anhui province.

No drinking will be allowed during the workday or at official activities, including conferences and business dinners, except for those relating to foreign affairs or inward investment.

President Xi Jinping has fought since 2012 to bring down extravagant spending and lavish dining as part of a major anti-corruption drive.

State events have also felt the impact - last month, alcohol was banned from most official banquets in Anhui province.
