And finally… not to be sniffed at

A dog whose drug-sniffing skills have led to the capture of at least 245 people and the seizure of nine tonnes of cocaine from a gang has had a bounty put on her head.

Sombra, a six-year-old German shepherd, has been marked for death by a Colombian mafia.

Gangsters have imposed a bounty of 200 million pesos (£52,800) on the canine cop, prompting police to mover her to Bogota’s El Dorado airport as a safety measure.

Officers tweeted that Sombra, which means ‘shadow’ in English, has become “the torment of Otoniel”.

Dairo Antonio Úsuga, known as “Otoniel”, leads the Urabeños, one of the country’s most powerful gangs.
