And finally… no Turkish delight

A Turkish man has lodged a complaint against his wife – for insulting the country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Ali D, 40, warned his wife numerous times against offending Erdogan, the newspaper Yeni Safak reports.

Undeterred, his wife kept swearing at the president whenever he appeared on TV.

“I kept on warning her, saying why are you doing this? Our president is a good person and did good things for Turkey,” Ali told the newspaper.

The wife challenged her husband to “record and lodge a complaint” if he disliked what she was doing.

So he did.

He then gave the material to prosecutors in the city of Izmir.

He told Yeni Safak: “Even if it is my father, who swears against or insults the president, I would not forgive and I would complain.”

The woman, 38, filed for divorce after three years of marriage.

Turkey’s president was previously compared to the character Gollum from the Lord of the Rings.
