And finally… limited demand
The US will issue limited edition passports this summer bearing an image of President Donald Trump, as part of events marking 250 years since independence.
The commemorative documents will feature a large photograph of Trump on the inside cover, accompanied by the text of the Declaration of Independence, the US flag and his signature in gold. Another page will display a painting of the founding fathers signing the document.
The passports form part of the wider “America250” programme, which includes events such as an IndyCar race on the National Mall and a UFC contest on the White House south lawn.
The move follows a series of initiatives placing the president’s likeness across official settings. His image is already displayed on banners at several federal departments, while draft designs from the US Mint include a $1 coin and a commemorative gold coin featuring his portrait. The 2026 national parks pass is also set to include his image alongside that of George Washington.
Plans for a 250ft monument, informally dubbed the “Arc de Trump”, have also received preliminary approval despite reported public opposition. If constructed, it would exceed the height of the Lincoln Memorial and include a prominent gold statue.
