And finally… doubts cast over votes

Ballot counting in Papua New Guinea’s general election has been delayed following accusations of sorcery.

Recounts have been ordered in two constituencies after candidates alleged that witchcraft has been used to remove their votes.

Priests have been asked to pray over the suspicious boxes to “shield” them from “sinister forces”, Radio New Zealand International reports.

The election took place on 8 July and ballot counting should have finished by 24 July, but has been beset by multiple issues.
