Michael Deschesne was arrested in the US state of Maine on Sunday on suspicion of theft and taken to jail.

He claimed he had enough money for bail and was taken to the bail commissioner, who he allegedly gave two counterfeit $100 bills, Local12 reports.

Mr Deschesne was denied bail and returned to jail – with an additional charge of forgery.

He later posted bail on both charges with genuine US currency and will return to court in August.
