And finally… copped

A police officer tasked with reviewing traffic light footage and issuing tickets was forced to censure himself for running a red light.

Officer Tim Glover of the Haines City Police Department in Florida didn’t realise his infraction until two weeks after the fact.

Glover told 10News WTSP: “I’ve had to write the notices to my friends, co-workers, firemen, highway patrolmen.”

However, he was stunned when he reviewed two-week-old footage showing his own car making a left turn when the light changed to red. Glover said he “was hoping it wasn’t mine, but I walked out and confirmed it was mine out here in the parking lot”.

He was forced to issue himself with a fine of more than $160, but was praised by superiors for taking responsibility for his mistake.

Glover said: “I’ve always been taught that if you’ve done something wrong, to take responsibility for what you’ve done and accept your punishment.

“In this part, it was paying the fine and getting my letter of reprimand.”
