Police believe a gang in Cali, southwest of Bogotá, has been using the implants to ferry drugs to Spain, The Times reports.

The cocaine-filled implants are surgically implanted and removed in illegal operations at either end of the journey.

Two doctors are among those who have been arrested in Colombia on suspicion of involvement in the plot.
