Essential Education, Training and Experience
Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms:
1. have been admitted and enrolled as a Solicitor in the State;
2. have at least three years’ satisfactory experience as a Solicitor, including adequate experience of conveyancing and/or court work, after admission and enrolment as a Solicitor; and
3. possess a high standard of professional training and experience
Desirable Education, Training and Experience
1. Possess excellent professional knowledge and skills
2. Possess a knowledge of the legislation governing local authorities and statutory bodies together with an understanding of public service organisation
3. Possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills and have the ability to engage with a wide range of people

Duties
The duties will be consistent with the provision and management of legal services that are responsive to the changing requirements of the client Departments within SDCC.
The successful candidate will be required to carry out all duties as assigned by the Law Agent and or another senior member of staff from time to time. The duties will mainly comprise of local authority conveyancing work and/or litigation and will include but are not limited to the following:
1) Acquisition of land/ housing stock
2) First registrations relating to legacy title matters
3) Advising on civil litigation and/or code enforcement in various courts
4) Attendance and advocacy in court from time to time
5) Providing advice in relation to the above matters as needed
6) Operate the electronic case management system
The holder of the post will, if required, act for an officer of a higher grade.
