EU Presidency Series Part 1: Ireland at the Heart of Europe

The Irish Centre for European Law (ICEL) is pleased to launch a three-part EU Presidency Webinar series themed “Ireland at the Heart of Europe” which is designed to examine the legal and policy architecture underpinning European trade and security as Ireland begins its eighth Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The first webinar will discuss “Ireland and One Europe, One Market”, which will discuss Ireland’s Presidency priorities within the broader push for further European single market integration. This webinar will launch ICEL’s three-part “Ireland at the Heart of Europe” series, designed to examine the legal and policy architecture underpinning European trade and security as Ireland begins its eighth Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
This webinar will take place online on 5 June 2026 @12-1pm (IST). Tickets can be purchased here.
This webinar will feature a keynote address from Minister Thomas Byrne TD, Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence on Ireland’s Presidency commitments. The webinar will then proceed to a panel discussion, chaired by former Minister of State for European Affairs Lucinda Creighton, between leading academic Professor Jessica Schmidt and expert advisor to Commissioner McGrath Kevin Barrett. This discussion will give audiences invaluable insights into the future of the European single market and the opportunity to ask questions to our speakers. The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session.
