Webinar to highlight lessons from UK debates on assisted dying
A group campaigning against assisted dying in Ireland has invited legal and healthcare professionals to a webinar highlighting lessons from UK debates on the issue.
Hope Ireland is hosting the webinar on Wednesday 28 January, from 7.30pm to 8.30pm, which will be moderated by Irish palliative care consultant Dr Feargal Twomey.
Speakers will address issues around assisted dying including disability, vulnerable individuals and autonomy, exploring topics which have been prominent during recent debates on proposed legislation in the UK.
Confirmed speakers include two members of the House of Lords — Paralympic champion Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and palliative medicine expert Baroness Ilora Finlay — as well as Professor Kevin Yuill, CEO of Humanists Against Assisted Suicide.
The event is free, but attendees must register in advance.
