The Bar and Law Society to host freedom of speech event

The Bar of Ireland and Law Society Skillnet will focus on freedom of speech at an event later this week to mark European Lawyers Day and World Human Rights Day.

Jim Clarken, CEO of Oxfam Ireland, is set to make a presentation on “The Right to be Heard” at the event in Dublin.

It will also feature readings from contributing writers to Make Them Visible, an exhibition of images and the written word from fifteen Irish writers highlighting the lives of refugees and displaced people around the world.

Make Them Visible is part of a joint campaign by Oxfam Ireland and the European Commission to raise awareness of the situation facing refugees and displaced people.

The event takes place in the Distillery Building on Thursday 10 December at 5pm.
