TCD School of Law welcomes three new members to its Faculty

Trinity College Dublin’s School of Law has welcomed three new members to the Faculty.

Andelka M. Phillips has been appointed Ussher Assistant Professor in IT Law.

Her recent research has focussed on the regulation of direct-to-consumer genetic tests, examining the industry’s use of wrap contracts (browsewrap and clickwrap). She is currently working on a book, entitled Buying Your Self on the Internet: Wrap Contracts and Personal Genomics to be published by Edinburgh University Press. Her research interests are primarily in information technology law, although she is also interested in medical law, specifically the use, storage, and treatment of sequenced genomic data and wearable health monitoring devices

She is from New Zealand and has studied and previously taught at theUniversity of Oxford and the University of Auckland.

Kouroch Bellis, has been made Assistant Professor in Law (French). He comes fromPanthéon-Assas University (Paris II), the heir of the Sorbonne’s Law Faculty. He has been employed there as a doctoral researcher after being the valedictorian of the General Private Law LL.M. of this university, the top LL.M. in France to become a researcher in private law. In addition, he successfully attended for five years to the College and School of Law, a selective degree for Assas’ best students, and majored there in international and comparative law. He also graduated in the Legal History LL.M. Summa Cum Laude, with a master’s thesis in Roman Law.

Finally, the Faculty has appointed Suryapratim Roy as Assistant Professor in Regulatory Law. Suryapratim will be lecturing on environmental law on the LLB Programme and law & risk on the LLM Programme. He has taught and written on climate law, economics of regulation and development studies at the University of Groningen.

He was a researcher with the South African Institute of International Affairs in Johannesburg and practised infrastructure law in the Mumbai offices of Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. He holds a BA, LLB (Honours) from the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research, India and dual-masters in Law and Economics from the University of Hamburg and the University of Vienna.
