Richard Grogan named Lawyer of the Year

Employment law solicitor Richard Grogan has been named Lawyer of the Year at the 2022 Dye & Durham Irish Law Awards.

The winners of the 10th annual awards were revealed at a gala awards ceremony at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Friday night.

Mr Grogan told Irish Legal News: “I was both honoured and trilled to receive this recognition from Irish Law Awards. I never expected to receive such an accolade from colleagues.”

The awards aim to identify, honour, and publicise outstanding achievements, while also recognising those who have dedicated their lives to serving in the legal profession. The annual event is designed to recognise excellence in the legal profession of Ireland, commending the achievements of lawyers.

Mr Grogan, partner at Richard Grogan & Associates, was recognised as overall Law Firm of the Year, while regional awards went to Alvaro Blasco in Leinster, Donnacha Anhold in Connacht/Ulster and Kieran Mulcahy in Munster.

Flynn O’Driscoll was named Law Firm of the Year, with regional awards going to Coghlan Kelly Solicitors in Leinster, O’Donnell McKenna in Connacht/Ulster and ReganWall LLP in Munster.

A special Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to human rights lawyer Noeline Blackwell, chief executive of Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC).

The Special Merit Award was presented to Maeve O’Rourke for her work with the OUTLaw Network for LGBT+ lawyers.
