Rebecca Murphy heading up Society of Young Solicitors in 60th anniversary year

RDJ solicitor Rebecca Murphy has been elected as chairperson of the Society of Young Solicitors (SYS) for 2025.

The organisation’s 2025 committee will steer the organisation through its 60th anniversary year, during which it plans to host a series of CPD and networking events, including some which alumni will be invited to attend.

Lewis Silkin associate Rachel Jones has been elected as vice-chair, with William Trueick of McCann FitzGerald serving as treasurer, Hannah Faul of Matheson as communications officer, Dónal O’Sullivan of Arthur Cox as charities officer, and Lucy Heery of A&L Goodbody as secretary.

The four ordinary committee members are Aoife Brannigan of RDJ, Jane Rigby of Dillon Eustace, Con Callan of William Fry and Laura Johnston of Mason Hayes & Curran.

New chair Ms Murphy told Irish Legal News: “I’m absolutely delighted to be heading up the SYS committee in the Society’s 60th anniversary year.

“We have a fantastic committee this year that is full of energy and ideas and we’re excited to throw ourselves into creating a calendar of great events for young solicitors.

“After training and Blackhall, it’s common for friend groups to scatter as careers take different paths, and the SYS offers a fun way to bring people back together and maintain those links while building new relationships and staying engaged with the wider legal community.

“I’d like to encourage everyone who hasn’t yet attended an SYS event to come along to one this year.

“Our annual conference will be taking place in October and we have a range of other events in the works.”
