Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin appointed to UN terror post

Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin has been appointed UN special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism.

The appointment was confirmed at the 35th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Professor Ní Aoláin is Professor of Law and Associate Director at Ulster University’s Transitional Justice Institute.

She also holds a joint appointment as Robina Chair in Law, Public Policy and Society at the University of Minnesota Law School.
