Poll: Should lawyers work a four-day week?

Irish Legal News is inviting readers to answer the question: should lawyers work a four-day week?

The four-day workweek came to the fore in the wake of the pandemic, with companies around the world trialling the model and finding it to be a success.

In the US and Ireland, a six-month trial that included 33 volunteer companies in 2022 indicated a positive impact on the performance of companies as well as productivity and employee wellbeing — employees were less stressed and fatigued.

In a trial of 70 UK firms last year, 86 per cent said the four-day week was such a success that they planned to put it on a permanent footing after the pilot had ended.

Trials in countries including Spain, Japan, New Zealand and Belgium have produced similar results.
