In new podcast from the Irish Independent legal affairs editor Shane Phelan talks about an experiment undertaken at the Kilkenny Law Festival where four AI models, Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok were asked to sit as judges of the High Court.

The event which took place in Kilkenny Courthouse on Friday 25 September was overseen by former Supreme Court judge Marie Baker and asked the AI models to rule on a fictional extradition case based on the current Irish legal position.

Mr Phelan took part in the experiment in Kilkenny and in the podcast he talks to Fionnán Sheahan about how each model fared and how the future looks for the use of AI in the legal profession.

A report on the outcome of the case can be found on the Kilkenny Law Festival website.
