The firm does not currently have a base in Ireland, but is said to be carrying out a review of its Irish operations after the UK voted to leave the European Union.

A spokesperson for Pinsent Masons told Irish Legal News: “We have a market-leading Northern Ireland presence which naturally lends itself to elements of cross-border work and a number of important relationships in RoI.”

The spokesperson added: “It is true that Dublin is an important legal market and will continue to be so.

“We won’t rule out anything that enhances our ability to service the global sectors in which we operate however at this stage we’re comfortable with our existing and very successful platform.”

Last week, the firm announced plans to expand into South Africa with a new office based in Johannesburg.

Richard Foley, senior partner at Pinsent Masons, said of the expansion: “We said at the turn of the year that we would continue to invest to stay relevant and this is proof of our commitment.”
