Over 220 solicitors attend Cork conference with focus on residential tenancy law

Over 220 local solicitors attended the Law Society of Ireland’s Practice and Regulation Symposium in Cork this year, which was addressed by experts in residential tenancy law.

The sold-out conference at the Kingsley Hotel was organised by the Southern Law Association (SLA) in partnership with the Law Society Finuas Skillnet.

Outgoing SLA president Joan Byrne, associate at O’Flynn Exhams Solicitors, said the conference was “an opportunity for Cork solicitors to examine crucial changes in key areas of law over the last 12 months, such as residential tenancies, regulation and civil litigation”.

She added that rising rental costs made it increasingly important for landlords and tenants know their rights.

Cork solicitor Patrick Dorgan of Ronan Daly Jermyn, who was recently elected president of the Law Society, also attended the event.

Ms Byrne said: “We were lucky to welcome new the president of the Law Society, Patrick Dorgan, to this conference in his home town. We wish him the best over the next 12 months.”
