Niall Geaney appointed to FIA courts
Niall Geaney
Clonakilty solicitor Niall Geaney has been elected to the judicial bodies of motorsport’s governing body, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
Mr Geaney was elected at FIA’s 2025 general assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan as a new judge of the FIA International Tribunal and International Court of Appeal.
The FIA International Tribunal and International Court of Appeal are the highest judicial forum for any global motorsport dispute in relation to FIA sanctioned motorsport competitions.
Mr Geaney was previously vice-president of the FIA Formula One and Formula E Cost Cap Adjudication Panel (CCAP).
Motorsport Ireland described Mr Geaney as a “lifelong motorsport fan” and said he “follows in the footsteps of the late Reggie Redmond, who was Ireland’s last representative on the FIA courts”.
Mr Geaney practises in the law firm Geaney Solicitors LLP in Clonakilty, Co Cork and advises clients mostly in relation to sports disputes and regulations, both in Ireland and abroad.
He is a law graduate of the University of Limerick.
