Nearly 12 hours set aside for abortion bill debate today and tomorrow

Nearly 12 hours have been set aside for TDs to debate abortion legislation today and tomorrow in a bid to get the legislation through the Dáil, The Times reports.

Opposition TDs from Fianna Fáil and Solidarity-People Before Profit have given up their private members’ time in order to help the bill make it onto the statute book in time to allow for abortion services to be rolled out from January.

There are still 25 amendments to be considered after three days of debate.

The Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Bill 2018 will be debated for four hours this evening and seven-and-a-half hours tomorrow night.
