Nasc Ireland to host wine tasting fundraiser in Cork

Nasc Ireland will host a wine tasting fundraiser in Cork next Friday to raise funds to support its free legal information and advice service.

The charity provides free advice to over 800 refugees, migrants and asylum seekers each year, to support people in navigating Ireland’s complex immigration and asylum systems.

The fundraiser coincides with International Human Rights Day and takes place in the bar of the Everyman Theatre on MacCurtain Street, Cork from 6.30pm on Friday 9 December.

Well-known food and wine journalist Leslie Williams is hosting the event and will guide those attending through a tasting of fine wines.

Nasc CEO Fiona Finn said: “The Everyman have generously offered to sponsor the venue, and we have donations from a great many businesses from around the city for food and spot prizes on the night.

“We are charging €19.10 for tickets, to raise awareness about the small allowance an asylum seeker is given every week, which has not increased since the Direct Provision system was established in 2000.

“The past few years have been difficult ones for us, with a loss of major funding sources and a significant increase in people seeking out our service. This year we are specifically seeking funds to directly support our Information Service, in order to keep our doors open and our service free.”

Book your tickets to the wine tasting by emailing events@nascireland.org, by phoning 021 450 3462, or via the iDonate link on Nasc’s website. If you cannot make the event but would like to support Nasc’s work, please consider donating a ticket.
