AIB group general counsel Miriam Nagle has joined the bank’s executive leadership team.

Ms Nagle, who became group general counsel in January 2025, will continue to provide legal counsel to the group and lead the legal function, as well as assuming additional accountability for third party management activity.

She began her legal career in private practice as a litigation specialist, advising on complex disputes across a range of sectors.

She joined AIB in 2013 and has since held a variety of senior legal roles, contributing to strategic initiatives and governance across the organisation.

Her additional responsibilities were announced in July alongside the appointment of AIB’s chief technology officer, Graham Fagan, as the bank’s chief operating officer.

The bank has also simplified its management structure to focus on its three business lines of retail banking, capital markets and climate capital.

AIB group chief executive Colin Hunt said: “Miriam’s appointment to our executive leadership team recognises both her contribution and counsel since becoming group general counsel, and the broadening of her accountabilities announced today reflect her impact on the group.

“Both of these appointments are evidence of the ability that has been fostered and developed within the group. We look forward to their continued contributions.”
