McCann Fitzgerald to sponsor Maynooth University scholarship awards

Law firm McCann Fitzgerald is to sponsor the award of two postgraduate scholarships in Mediation and Conflict Intervention at Maynooth University.

The award will pay course fees for two successful applicants to complete the one-year full-time Masters in Mediation and Conflict Intervention delivered in the Edward M Kennedy Institute for Conflict Intervention during the academic year 2016-17.

The scholarships are open to applicants holding an undergraduate degree in law (a minimum 2.1 grade, honours (level 8)).

A key element of the programme is the thesis, which will be co-supervised by the Department of Law, and two areas of particular interest are:

  • Mediation and Employment Relations: a dissertation considering the role of a national forum/mechanism or model to facilitate addressing any issues relating to terms and conditions of employment, across the various sectors, and prior to any particular employer/employee industrial relations dispute.
  • Commercial Mediation: a dissertation focusing on the increasing role of mediation as an alternative to litigation in commercial disputes (research topics might include, for example, measuring the use of mediation in the Commercial Court; or the impact of the European Mediation Directive).
  • The closing date to receive applications is 27 May 2016.

Further information about the scholarships, including the application process, is available on the Maynooth University website.
