Matheson teams up with Irish Rule of Law International

Matheson has announced a new partnership with Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI), the non-profit rule of law initiative jointly established by the Law Society of Ireland and The Bar of Ireland.

IRLI seeks to harness the skills of Irish lawyers in using the law as a means of tackling global injustice and empowering all people to live in a society free from inequality, corruption and conflict.

As part of the partnership, Matheson trainees will have the exclusive opportunity to support IRLI on its projects on the ground.

This year, Matheson has selected two trainees to travel to South Africa in April to support the Law Society of South Africa’s four-day Commercial and Company Law Conference.

Commenting on the initiative, Tara Doyle, chair of the trainee liaison partner committee, said: “We are delighted to partner with IRLI on its important work in developing countries and to provide our trainees with invaluable international pro bono experience.

“The calibre of our people is crucial to our success as a law firm and offering an opportunity to our graduates to develop their legal skills in an international context also allows us to give back to this very worthy cause.”

Michael Irvine, IRLI Director, said: “IRLI looks forward to collaborating with Matheson in this new venture.

“This partnership will certainly provide a significant experience to Matheson trainees who will be exposed to countries with different legal jurisdictions. For IRLI it ensures access to the brightest minds and enhances our services to those who need it most.”
