Matheson appoints seven new partners across firm

Matheson has announced the appointment of seven new partners across a range of departments, bringing its partner count to 84.

The new appointments are Michael Hastings and David O’Mahony in finance and capital markets; Maria Kennedy in commercial litigation and dispute resolution; Barry McGettrick in tax; Kate McKenna in EU competition and regulatory; Donal O’Byrne in asset management; and Russell Rochford in employment pensions and benefits.

Managing partner Michael Jackson said the appointments reflect “the strength and growth of our business, as we respond to the needs of our domestic clients with an international focus and our international client base doing business in and from Ireland”.

He added: “I want to congratulate our seven new partners on their achievement. These appointments recognise not only an outstanding breadth of technical and legal knowledge, but also the considerable sectoral knowledge of our partners in areas which are of key economic importance for our clients and for Ireland’s economic path post-Brexit.

“Deep industry and sectoral knowledge combined with legal expertise is essential for supporting the needs of both domestic and multinational businesses with Irish operations in planning for Brexit and beyond.

“I am also pleased to see that 40 per cent of our new partner promotions from the last 3 years have been female, and that 36 per cent of Matheson’s partnership is female.”
