Mason Hayes & Curran has become the first Irish law firm to partner with the Global Leadership Foundation (GLF), a network of former world leaders working to advance democracy, conflict resolution and good governance.

The firm’s support for the GLF recognises the importance of the rule of law, good government and institutional resilience in emerging democracies, which is essential before sustainable economic development and growth can be achieved.

Geopolitical uncertainty and threats to democratic systems are amongst the biggest risks for businesses today, it added.

Will Carmody, managing partner at Mason Hayes & Curran, said: “The partnership reflects our belief that ethical leadership and the rule of law are essential not just for political stability, but for long-term business success.

“As a firm, we want to be part of shaping a stable, accountable global environment.”

GLF, whose membership includes many former presidents and prime ministers, works discreetly with current leaders to provide advice on governance and transitions of power, as well as institutional reform.

Former Taoiseach Enda Kenny serves as the Irish member.

Sir Robert Fulton, CEO of the Global Leadership Foundation, said: “Mason Hayes & Curran brings a clear commitment to the principles we promote.

“In an increasingly challenging global landscape, partnerships like this are critical to building bridges between business, governance and civil society.”
