Culture Minister Josepha Madigan has launched a Christmas exhibition of contemporary art by six up-and-coming Irish artists at Mason Hayes & Curran’s offices in Dublin.

The exhibition was curated by children from three schools in Dublin under the Royal Hibernian Academy’s (RHA) art education programme, which is supported by the law firm.

Ms Madigan said: “I’m delighted to support any initiative that helps new and emerging artists build a platform for their work.

“It’s also great to see a law firm such as Mason Hayes & Curran use their art collection to build relationships with their local community in the South Docks, and facilitate the students in Ringsend to gain access to the world of contemporary art and learn about making a career in different art-related disciplines.”

Working with guidance from the RHA, school pupils from the Ringsend area of Dublin attended workshops, learned about the principles of curation and the business of art, were given tours of the RHA and then helped to pick the pictures for the exhibition.

The artists selected and exhibited are Basil Al-Rawi, Andrew Bailey-Simpson, Christopher Banahan, Aron Cahill, Cecilia Moore, Elva Mulchrone and Aoife Scott.
