Irish lawyer Jane McCooey recognised as US business leader

New York-based Irish lawyer Jane McCooey, executive director and chief operating officer for the global technology and data legal group at Morgan Stanley, has been recognised in Irish America’s Business 100.

The Business 100 honours the best and brightest Irish-American and Irish-born leaders representing some of the most innovative and influential companies and corporations in the world.

Ms McCooey, from Co Armagh, studied law with French law at University College Dublin and Université Toulouse Capitole before completing an LLM at the University of Cambridge and an executive MBA with Quantic School of Business and Technology in the US.

Before moving to New York in October 2013 and qualifying at the New York Bar, she worked in Brussels, first at the European Commission and then at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales.

Her New York career began at international law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, where she specialised in antitrust law for over eight years before joining Morgan Stanley in 2022, where she works on a range of antitrust, cybersecurity, and privacy legal, regulatory, strategic, and operational issues.
