#InPictures: King's Inns dinner marks International Women's Day 2024

Activist and sports journalist Joanne O’Riordan was welcomed to the King’s Inns last week as keynote speaker for the Bar of Ireland’s ninth annual International Women’s Day dinner.

Ms O’Riordan studied criminology in University College Cork (UCC) and is only one of seven people in the world living with a rare physical disability known as total amelia, meaning she was born with no limbs.

Sara Phelan SC, chair of the Bar of Ireland, delivered opening remarks at the dinner last Thursday 7 March, which shared the global IWD theme of ‘Inspiring Inclusion’.

Tracy Ennis Faherty BL, chair of the Bar’s equality and resilience committee, also spoke on the theme of inspiring inclusion in the legal profession.
