Hayes solicitors brings together leading practitioners to examine 50 years of EU employment law
Hayes solicitors, together with the EU Bar Association of Ireland (EUBA) and Employment Bar Association (EBA) will host a panel of leading employment law practitioners this month for a panel discussion examining 50 years of EU employment law in Ireland, and its continuing influence on employment rights and practice.
Bringing together perspectives from the Bar and private practice, the panel will consider how EU employment law has shaped the Irish employment landscape over the past five decades, from relatively limited statutory protections to the extensive framework in place today.
The speakers will also examine recent developments, including the EU Pay Transparency Directive, and consider the continuing influence of EU law on employment rights, obligations and workplace practice in Ireland.
Taking part of Dublin International Disputes Week 2026, the panel will be moderated by the Hon. Mr Justice Séamus Given, Judge of the High Court, and will feature Cathy Maguire SC, Tom Mallon BL and Triona Sugrue, partner at Hayes Solicitors.
Cathy Maguire SC specialises in employment and trade union law and has appeared in a number of leading employment cases. Tom Mallon BL has practised at the Bar for almost 40 years and was a founding member and first chair of the Employment Bar Association. Triona Sugrue advises employers on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
The event will take place on 20 October with registration and networking from 4.30pm. Attendance is free.
