Garrett Cooney SC obituary

An obituary of barrister Garrett Cooney SC, who passed away earlier this month, has been published by The Irish Times.
Mr Cooney, originally from Co Longford, called to the Bar in 1960 and called to the Inner Bar in 1977.
He passed away on 12 January 2019 at the age of 84, prompting tributes from across the legal profession.
The Irish Times recalls him as “one of the most feared advocates of the Bar” and a strong opponent of efforts to liberalise Ireland’s libel laws.
