Freezing orders against Kilrane O'Callaghan to be considered on Wednesday

The High Court will consider whether to freeze the accounts of suspended Ballaghderreen solicitor Declan O’Callaghan and his former practice, Kilrane O’Callaghan & Co. Solicitors, on Friday, The Irish Times reports.

The Law Society of Ireland announced last week that it would seek orders freezing the accounts out of concern that the client account deficit linked to the law firm has grown for months and may now exceed €730,000.

As well as the freezing orders, the Law Society will ask for books, files and accounts to be handed over.

The firm is currently being run under the supervision of the Law Society by Mr O’Callaghan’s daughters, Aoife O’Callaghan and Eimear O’Callaghan.

Nessa Bird BL, acting for the Society, said in court last week that it was alleging dishonesty on the part of Mr O’Callaghan but not against either of his daughters.
