Flanagan to officially open new eGates at Dublin Airport passport control

New eGates for passport control will be officially opened at Dublin Airport by Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan tomorrow.

The eGates are up and running in Terminal 1, ahead of the busy summer period, and will shortly be operational in Terminal 2.

eGates, which were first opened in Dublin Airport in November 2017, provide automated passport validation and security checks on passengers by using advanced facial recognition technology and integrating with national and international watch lists.

A spokesperson for Mr Flanagan said the new eGates feature flatbed scanners and both increase speed and ease of use for passengers, while also providing for the use of the Passport Card in eGates for the first time.
