Fifteen firms receive more than €200k from DPP

Fifteen solicitor firms received more than €200,000 from the Director of Public Prosecutions last year, the Irish Examiner reports.

Figures released by the DPP’s office show that 32 solicitors, all based outside Dublin, earned €6.24 million in fees in 2015 - including personal allowance to State solicitors, staff costs’ allowance, long trial allowances, travel, copying and expenses.

The largest amount - €497,245 - went to the office of Frank Fyhan, State solicitor for Cork City.

Other solicitor practices receiving more than €200,000 include:

  • Kevin O’Doherty — €235,495;
  • Vincent O’Reilly — €234,068;
  • William Kennedy — €233,775;
  • Vincent Deane — €233,742;
  • Fergus Mullen — €233,683;
  • Edward O’Sullivan — €233,489;
  • Paul Fitzpatrick — €232,873;
  • Ciarán Liddy — €231,098;
  • Francis Hutchinson — €229,486;
  • Martin Linnane — €228,289;
  • Rory Benville — €228,062;
  • and Geraldine Gilleece — €225,767.
  • A further six practices received fees of between €150,000 and €100,000:

    • Sharon Murphy — €198,825;
    • Malachy Boohig — €181,085;
    • Jeremiah Healy — €170,206;
    • Peter Jones — €168,496;
    • Gerald Meaney — €164,607;
    • and Hugh Sheridan — €154,518.
